HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log labeled Hotmail Hits circulating on Telegram in October 2025. The file targeted Hotmail and Outlook webmail accounts specifically, containing 1,051 records with email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs each login connects to.

Why This Matters: Your Inbox Is the Key to Everything Else

A Hotmail or Outlook inbox is not just email. It is usually the account used to reset passwords on banking apps, shopping sites, and social media. Whoever holds this leak holds the key that unlocks all of it.

Because the passwords here are plaintext, there is no barrier between the leak and the login screen.

What Was Exposed: Email, Password, and Site URL

  • Hotmail and Outlook email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords with no encryption
  • URLs identifying the exact site or service each login belongs to

Each of the 1,051 records is a complete, working login that requires no further effort to use.

Why This Matters: From Inbox Access to Full Account Takeover

Criminals know email accounts are the master key to a person's online life. Once inside an inbox, an attacker can trigger password resets across dozens of other services, a process that turns one leaked login into many.

This can lead quickly to account takeover, financial fraud, and identity theft, all starting from a single stolen Hotmail password.

How Stealer Logs Like Hotmail Hits Get Made

Stealer logs come from infostealer malware, wich infects a device through a fake download, cracked software, or malicious link.

The malware quietly reads saved browser passwords and autofill data, then records the website, username, and password for each account. Criminals often sort these records by email provider, which is why a batch like this one was labeled specifically for Hotmail accounts.

Sorted files like this sell faster because buyers know exactly what type of account they are getting before they recieve it.
