1,564 Hotmail Accounts Surface in a Telegram Stealer Log

HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file circulating in a Telegram channel on 12 July 2026, containing 1,564 exposed records tied to Hotmail accounts. The log includes email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the sites where those credentials were entered, the classic fingerprint of malware that harvests saved browser and application data directly from an infected device.

Why This Is Dangerous

Because the passwords in this log are stored in plaintext, anyone who gets a copy of the file can log into the associated Hotmail accounts immediately, no cracking or guessing required. Attackers routinely test these credentials against email providers first, since a working email login often unlocks password reset flows for banking, shopping, and social media accounts tied to that inbox.

What Was Exposed in This Hotmail Stealer Log

  • Email addresses tied to Hotmail accounts
  • Plaintext passwords for those accounts
  • URLs showing which sites and services the credentials were used on

Why This Matters

Even a small log like this one can cause outsized damage. A working Hotmail login gives an attacker access to years of personal correspondence, password reset emails, and account recovery options for other services. Combined with the captured URLs, attackers can quickly identify which banking or shopping accounts are linked to the same address and attempt credential stuffing against them.

How This Stealer Log Was Created

Stealer logs come from infostealer malware, malicious software that quietly runs on a victim's device and copies saved passwords, browser cookies, and autofill data before sending everything back to the attacker. The malware doesn't need to breach Hotmail's servers, it only needs the victim's device to be infected once. Logs like this one are commonly repackaged and shared or sold in Telegram channels that specialize in stolen credentials.
