2,442 sets of email addresses, plaintext passwords, and login URLs are now circulating online. That is the scope of "512.part2," a stealer log file a Telegram user uploaded in November 2023, according to HEROIC analysts who reviewed the leak. The file reads like a spreadsheet of stolen keys, each row a direct path into someone's online account.

Why This Is Dangerous

These passwords were not hashed or scrambled in any way, they are stored as plaintext. That means anyone who opens the file sees the actual password next to the matching email and website, no extra work needed to put the credentials to use.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the associated login pages

Why This Matters

Even a leak of a couple thousand records is enough to cause real harm. Attackers feed lists like this into credential stuffing tools that automatically try each login across popular websites. If a victim reused that password anywhere else, the exposure can quickly snowball into full account takeover, stolen identity information, or drained bank accounts.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log begins with malware, often disguised as a cracked game, a free tool, or a fake update, that a victim unknowingly installs. Once running, the malware quietly extracts saved passwords, browser cookies, and autofil data from the infected computer, then transmits everything to the attacker. The stolen information is compiled into a log file like "512.part2" and passed around Telegram channels, sometimes for free, sometimes for a small fee.
