27,246 Plaintext Passwords Leaked in the BabaCloudLogs Stealer Dump
HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log dump known as BabaCloudLogs that surfaced on Telegram on September 18, 2025. The file exposed 27,246 records, including email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs tied to each login. Unlike a traditional corporate data breach, this dataset was harvested directly from infected devices and packaged for distribution on a Telegram channel.
Why This Is Dangerous
Because the passwords in this dump are stored in plaintext, anyone who obtains the file can log directly into the affected accounts without needing to crack or guess anything. Paired with the URL for each credential, attackers know exactly which site or service each password unlocks, making it simple to attempt logins on email providers, cloud dashboards, and other services tied to the same address.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs linked to each set of credentials
Why This Matters
Stealer logs like this one are a favorite tool for credential stuffing, where attackers automatically test stolen username and password pairs across many sites hoping for password reuse. Because the passwords here are already in plaintext with no encryption to break, they can be used immediately for account takeover, email compromise, and downstream identity theft or financial fraud if any of the accounts are linked to banking or payment services.
How Stealer Logs Work
A stealer log is the output of infostealer malware, malicious software that quietly installs itself on a victim's device, often through a fake download, cracked software, or phishing link. Once running, it scans the browser and system for saved passwords, autofill data, and session information, then bundles everything into a text file that is uploaded to a server or, as in this case, shared through a Telegram channel. Because the malware captures whatever is stored on the device at the time of infection, a single stealer log can contain credentials for dozens of unrelated sites and services.
