Security researchers at HEROIC recently spotted a stealer log file titled "27k valid" on a Telegram channel, uploaded in August 2023. Their review found 22,868 records inside, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the URL that login was used on.

Why This Is Dangerous

Analysts note that these credentials require no extra work to exploit. The passwords sit in plain text, exactly as the victim typed them, alongside the exact website they unlock. Anyone with access to the file can attempt to log in immediately, without cracking a single hash.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (the specific login pages tied to each credential)

Why This Matters

Researchers who track these leaks say files like this one are routinely used for credential stuffing, where the same email and password pair gets tested across many unrelated sites. Because password reuse is widespread, a single exposed login often leads to account takeover, identity theft, or financial fraud well beyond the original breach.

How Stealer Logs Work

According to analysts, this type of breach typically begins with malware disguised as a cracked program or pirated download. Once installed on a victim's device, it silently collects saved browser passwords and session details, then compiles them into a log file. That file is then distributed through Telegram channels and underground marketplaces, which is exactly where this one was found.
