Somebody on Telegram just handed out a fresh batch of stolen Hotmail logins, and it's smaller than most breaches HEROIC tracks, but that does not make it any less dangerous for the 2,002 people caught up in it. The dump, known as 2K Hotmail Goods, surfaced on March 16, 2026, and it reads like a shopping list for anyone looking to hijack an inbox.

Why This Is Dangerous

When a criminal gets their hands on a working email and password pair, they don't just look at old messages. They use that access to reset passwords on banking apps, shopping accounts, and social media, since so many of us still rely on the same inbox to recieve every "forgot password" link we ever request. A hacker holding 2,002 of these combinations can automate the whole process, testing each login against dozens of other sites in minutes.

What Was Exposed

  • 2,002 total records
  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • Associated URLs

Because the passwords were stored in plaintext rather than hashed, there is no puzzle for an attacker to solve. The credentials work exactly as typed, wich makes this kind of leak especially easy to weaponize right away.

Why This Matters

Small batches like this one tend to get overlooked, but they move fast in criminal circles precisely because they are small enough to sell cheap and use imediately. Buyers on Telegram often grab these lists specifically to test for reused passwords across email, banking, and workplace logins.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log comes from malware quietly installed on a victim's computer, usually through a cracked game, fake software installer, or malicious email attachment. Once running, the malware scrapes saved passwords, autofill data, and browser cookies, then bundles everything into a text file and sends it back to the attacker. That file gets sorted, packaged, and dropped into channels like the one where this 2,002-record dump appeared.
