In June 2025, HEROIC analysts discovered a stealer log dump on Telegram known as the "37k Gmail Combo," containing 37,769 records of Gmail-linked credentials. Each entry pairs an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the login page it was stolen from. Because every record is built around a Gmail account, this leak carries risk that reaches far beyond inboxes.

Why the 37k Gmail Combo Leak Is Dangerous

A Gmail login is rarely just a Gmail login. It is usually the recovery email for banking apps, social media, cloud storage, and work accounts. With a working password already in hand, an attacker does not need to guess a recovery question or wait for a reset link, they simply sign in and take over.

What Was Exposed in This Breach

  • Gmail email addresses used as primary logins
  • Plaintext passwords tied to each account
  • URLs showing where each credential was captured

Why This Matters: One Login Can Chain Into Many

Because Gmail is often the master key to a person's digital life, this breach creates a chain reaction risk. An attacker who logs into a stolen Gmail account can trigger password resets on banking, shopping, and social accounts, recieve the reset codes directly, and lock the real owner out of everything at once, seperate from any warning email since that too runs through Gmail. This is exactly how a small leak of 37,769 records can lead to widespread account takeover and financial fraud.

How This Stealer Log Breach Happened

Stealer malware infects a device through a fake download, cracked app, or malicious attachment, then quietly copies every saved password and cookie from the browser. Because Gmail is one of the most commonly saved logins, combo lists built specifically around Gmail accounts, like this one, are a popular product on Telegram and dark web marketplaces where criminals buy and sell fresh credentials in bulk.
