In March 2023, HEROIC analysts catalogued a stealer log dataset attributed to the Telegram actor known as 650PCS zet_cloud. The collection contains exactly 6,893 records harvested from endpoints compromised by infostealer malware, capturing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs reflecting the authenticated sessions active on each infected device. The log was shared through underground Telegram distribution channels before being identified and indexed in the HEROIC breach intelligence database.

Why This Is Dangerous

The value of stealer log data lies in its freshness. Credentials captured by infostealer malware represent real, active login pairs rather than recycled data from old database dumps. For each of the 6,893 affected records, attackers know not only the password but also the exact websites the victim was logged into, allowing for immediate, targeted account access attempts. With email access typically being the first target, attackers can then pivot to password resets on any linked service.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (authenticated site endpoints from infected machines)

Why This Matters

A single exposed email and plaintext password pair gives an attacker the starting point for credential stuffing attacks run across hundreds of services simultaneously. Victims who share passwords between their email, banking, and other accounts face the risk of complete account takeover across multiple platforms. Beyond immediate financial damage, identity theft resulting from this type of breach can take years to resolve and affects credit, employment background checks, and government records.

How Stealer Logs Work

Infostealer malware is designed to harvest credentials silently from compromised devices. Distribution methods include phishing emails with malicious attachments, trojanized software installers, and rogue browser extensions. Once installed, the malware captures saved passwords from browsers, extracts session cookies, records keystrokes on login pages, and logs the URLs of active authenticated sessions. The resulting data is packaged into structured log files, transmitted to attacker-controlled infrastructure, and then sold or freely distributed through Telegram channels and dark web forums where tools exist to rapidly parse and exploit the contents.
