Plaintext Passwords on an Engineering Tool: AllDataSheet.PL Exposes 43,216 Accounts

AllDataSheet.PL -- a Polsih datasheet search engine for electronic compnents -- was used by engineers, hardware designers, and industrial technicians to look up specifications and circuit diagrams. When it suffered a data breach released on August 24, 2018, 43,216 user accounts were exposed with email addresses and passwords stored in completely unencrypted form. For a platform serving an enginreing demographic that often uses the same credentials across development environments, the plaintext exposure was immediately actionable.

AllDataSheet.PL (Aug 24, 2018): Breach Summary

  • Records Exposed: 43,216
  • Data Types: Email addresses, plaintext passwords
  • Breach Type: Database breach
  • Country Affected: Poland
  • Date Leaked: August 24, 2018

The Engineering Demographic: High-Value Credential Targets

Datasheet search engines serve a specific professional audience: electronics engineers, PCB designers, component procurement specialists, and industrial automation technicians. This demographic frequently registers with corporate or institutional email addresses and often reuses passwords across professional tools -- CAD platforms, component distributor accounts, ERP systems, and engineering collaboration environments. When AllDataSheet.PL credentials were exposed, attackers had a ready-made targeting list for enterprise engineering environments. The plaintext format meant no cracking was required; the credentials were immediately ready for testing against any platform where those engineers might have reused their password.

Plaintext on a Technical Platform: The Irony Amplifies the Risk

Plaintext password storage is the most fundamental security failure possible -- not a compromise of an otherwise functional security system, but the complete absence of any protection. For a platform serving technical users who understand hardware and software systems, the architectural choice is particularly difficult to rationalize. AllDataSheet.PL's 43,216 exposed accounts entered the credential stuffing ecosystem instantly: no GPU infrastructure, no cracking algorithms, no time investment required. Any attacker who obtained the database had 43,216 working email-password pairs within seconds of opening the file.

Poland in the August 24, 2018 European Breach Wave

AllDataSheet.PL is part of the August 24, 2018 breach wave -- a cluster of European platform releases that preceded the larger August 26 global combolist event. Alongside The London College (UK), Europreven Malaga (Spain), FortesanShop (Italy), and several other platforms, AllDataSheet.PL represents the Central European dimension of a coordinated multi-day breach aggregation campaign. The presence of a Polish technical platform in this cluster confirms the aggregator's reach into Central European markets -- a region whose engineering talent base makes it particularly valuable for enterprise credential targeting.

Check If Your Credentials Were Exposed

HEROIC's free breach scanner searches across more than 400 billion exposed records to tell you instantly if your email appears in the AllDataSheet.PL breach or any other known data leak. If you used any engineering, electronics, or component search platform with a password you've reused elsewhere, search your email now -- plaintext exposure means those credentials have been in active circulation since 2018.
