HEROIC analysts identified that in June 2023, a Telegram user uploaded a stealer log file labeled "ARAB_LOGS PRIVITE," exposing 2,793 records. The data included email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs harvested from infected devices, with the file name suggesting a focus on users in Arab-speaking regions. The log was shared privately on Telegram, indicating it was distributed within criminal networks rather than posted publicly for all to see.

Why This Is Dangerous

Even though this breach contains fewer records than some larger leaks, the data quality makes it highly dangerous. Every record contains a working email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of a site the victim was using, giving attackers a precise, verified set of credentials for real, active accounts. Private Telegram distribution means the data reached a targeted audience of motivated criminals rather than being scattered broadly, increasing the likelihood it was actually used.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs (showing which websites each victim was logged into)

Why This Matters

Stealer logs distributed through private Telegram channels often end up in the hands of skilled cybercriminals who specialize in monetizing stolen credentials quickly. Within hours of receiving a log like this, attackers can test credentials against banking portals, payment services, and email providers. A single working login can give them access to financial accounts, allow them to intercept verification codes, or let them impersonate the victim to commit fraud. Because the passwords are in plaintext, there is no delay between receiving the data and exploiting it.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer logs originate from infostealer malware that silently installs on a victim's device. In regions where pirated software and unofficial app stores are common, infostealers spread easily through tampered downloads and fake utilities. Once active on a device, the malware copies all passwords saved in web browsers, records session cookies, and logs which websites the device connects to. This information is assembled into a structured log file and sent to the attacker over an encrypted channel. The attacker then sells or distributes the file through private networks like Telegram, where buyers use it to take over accounts or commit identity fraud.
