HEROIC analysts flagged a suspicious upload on a public Telegram channel on May 31, 2025. An anonymous user posted a stealer log file labeled "BabaCloudLogs 333 Cloud Logs," exposing 17,668 compromised records. The data included plaintext passwords, email adresses, and API host URLs harvested directly from infected endpoints, suggesting malware had silently collected credentials from real users and cloud-connected devices.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer logs are immediately actionable for criminals. With plaintext passwords and matching email addresses in hand, an attacker can log into accounts within minutes, without needing to crack anything. The inclusion of API host URLs means attackers may also have direct access to cloud services, developer tools, or internal business systems, opening the door to data theft, ransomware deployment, or lateral movement across entire networks.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (including API host endpoints)

Why This Matters

When passwords are exposed in plaintext, every account tied to those credentails is at risk. Criminals use a technique called credential stuffing, where they automatically try stolen username and password pairs across hundreds of websites. If you reuse passwords, a single leaked login can cascade into your email, bank account, social media, and workplace tools being compromised. Stealer log victims also face identity theft and fraud long after the initial breach.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log is the output of infostealer malware, a type of malicious software that secretly installs itself on a computer or device. Once running, it silently records everything you type, grabs saved passwords from your browser, captures cookies that keep you logged in, and collects details about cloud services and APIs you access. That information gets bundled into a file, called a log, and sent to the attacker. These logs are then sold or shared publicly, as happened here on Telegram. The victim often has no idea their credentials have been stolen.
