Source Type Stealer log
Origin United States
Password Type plaintext

HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file uploaded to Telegram in November 2025, catalogued under the name BabaUlpNew 242 K ULP LINE 07.11.2025. The file contained 82,905 records harvested by malware from infected devices. Each record included email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the websites where those credentials were used. The data sat in private Telegram channels before making its way into broader circulation, where it was eventually indexed in HEROIC's DarkHive database.

Why Plaintext Passwords From Stealer Logs Are So Dangerous

Most data breaches expose hashed passwords, which at least require some effort to crack. Stealer logs are different. The malware grabs credentials directly from your browser or password manager before any encryption takes place, meaning attackers recieve your actual, readable password with zero extra steps.

With a real email and matching plaintext password, an attacker can attempt to log into dozens of other services in minutes. Banking apps, email inboxes, social media accounts, and cloud storage are all fair targets. Because the log also includes the specific URLs where credentials were used, attackers know exactly which services to target first.

What the BabaUlpNew Log Exposed

  • Email addresses (used as login identifiers across services)
  • Plaintext passwords (unencrypted, immediately usable)
  • URLs (the exact websites where each credential was active)

Why This Breach Matters for Credential Stuffing Attacks

Credential stuffing is the automated process of taking username and password pairs from one breach and testing them across hundreds of other websites. Stealer log data is among the most valuable fuel for these attacks because the credentials are fresh, verified, and plaintext. A single email and password pair can unlock a bank account, an email inbox full of sensitive documents, or a shopping account with a saved credit card.

The inclusion of URLs in this dataset makes it even more useful for attackers. Rather than guessing which services a victim uses, attackers know exactly where those credentials were comprimised. This compresses the time between data theft and account takeover from days to minutes.

How Stealer Log Malware Harvests Credentials

Stealer logs are created by a category of malware known as information stealers. These programs are typically distributed through phishing emails, fake software downloads, or malicious browser extensions. Once installed on a device, the malware silently scans the system for stored credentials.

Modern info-stealers target browser saved passwords, autofill data, session cookies, and even desktop password managers. The harvested data is packaged into a log file and sent to an operator, who then sells or distributes the logs through private Telegram channels or dark web forums. The entire process, from infection to data upload, can occure within hours of a device being compromised.

The ULP (URL:Login:Password) format used in this log is a standard stealer output format, making the data trivially easy to import into credential-stuffing tools.
