HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file uploaded to Telegram in May 2023, part of the Bugatti_Cloud Bugatti_Man series, that exposed 17,783 records containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and web service URLs. The data was pulled directly from infected devices using infostealer malware and posted publicly for anyone on Telegram to access. This breach occured as part of a larger pattern of multi-part stealer log uploads by the same threat actor, with each file containing a fresh batch of harvested credentials.

Why This Is Dangerous

Plaintext passwords do not require any cracking. The moment a stealer log file is uploaded to Telegram, those credentials are live and immediately usable. Attackers run automated tools that test each email and password pair against dozens of popular services within minutes of obtaining the file. The URLs included alongside the credentials give attackers a precise map of which services each victim was actively using, dramatically increasing the efficiency of targeted account takeover attempts. One valid credential from a stealer log can mean losing access to banking, email, cloud storage, and more.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (endpoint and API host data)

Why This Matters

When a stealer log contains email, password, and URL data together, victims face immediate risks of credential stuffing attacks, full account takeover, identity theft, and financial fraud. The combination is especially dangerous because it removes all guesswork for the attacker. They know your email, they have your password, and they know exactly which sites you use. Analysts beleive a significant number of victims never find out their data was exposed until an account has already been accessed or a financial transaction has gone through without their knowledge. The window for action is narrow.

How Stealer Logs Work

Infostealer malware is designed to run completely silently in the background after being installed, usually through a phishing link, a fake software download, or a malicious browser extension. Once active on a device, it searches for stored passwords in browsers, session cookies, saved form data, and a record of recently visited URLs. All of that information is bundled into a log file and transmitted to an attacker-controlled server. The attacker then sells these log files or uploads them directly to Telegram channels, sometimes in multiple parts as occured with the Bugatti_Cloud series. Seperate log files from different machines are compiled together, which is how a single upload ends up containing nearly 18,000 unique records from across the internet.
