The Canada Valid Access Leak Could Unlock Email, Banking, and More
HEROIC Analysts Spot the Canada Valid Access Stealer Log
On November 26, 2024, HEROIC's threat intelligence team found a small stealer log labeled "Canada Valid Access" circulating on Telegram. The file was uploaded by an anonymous user and contained 24 records, each combining an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of the login page the credentials unlocked.
How the Canada Valid Access Leak Could Unlock More Than One Account
A small record count does not mean small risk. Each of the 24 entries in this log is a verified, working login at the moment it was captured, not a guess or an old password. If any of those 24 people reuse passwords, which most people do across email, banking, and social apps, a single stolen credential can act as a skeleton key. An attacker who gets into one account can often reset passwords on others, chaining their way from a login on one site into email, then into banking or social media.
What Was Exposed in the Canada Valid Access Log
- Email addresses tied to individual accounts
- Plaintext passwords for those accounts
- The website URLs the credentials were used to log into
Why This Matters Even for a Small Leak
Because the seller labeled this file "valid access," the credentials were tested and confirmed working before being shared, which raises the odds they can still be used for account takeover today. For the 24 people affected, the real danger is password reuse: if the same email and password combination unlocks more than one service, one small leak can expose an entire digital life.
How a Stealer Log Like This Gets Made
Stealer logs come from infostealer malware that infects a device, often through pirated software or a phishing link, then quietly copies saved browser passwords and autofill data. The stolen information is exported into a file and shared or sold on Telegram, sometimes in small curated batches like this 24-record log rather than massive dumps, which can make them easier for a buyer to work through by hand.
Check If You Are Affected
Even a small stealer log can be the first domino in a bigger account takeover. HEROIC's free breach scanner checks your email against a database of more than 400 billion compromised records, so you can find out fast whether your credentials are circulating and lock down every account tied to that password.
