In June 2026, HEROIC's dark web analysts identified a stealer log uploaded to Telegram on 10-Jun-2026 containing 21,673 records tied to capecod.net. The log included email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the sites those credentials were captured on, the telltale signature of malware that had been quietly extracting saved logins from an infected device before the data was compiled and shared.

Why This Capecod.net Stealer Log Leak Is Dangerous

With 21,673 email and password pairs bundled together, each matched to the exact site it unlocks, an attacker holding this file has a large, ready-made list of working logins. No cracking or guessing is needed, only the time it takes to try them.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the sites the credentials were used on

Why This Matters

Because the passwords are stored in plaintext, they can be used the moment someone opens the file, with no decryption step in the way. If any of these 21,673 people reused their capecod.net password elsewhere, those other accounts are exposed too through credential stuffing, where attackers automatically try the same stolen login combinations against banking sites, email providers, and social media until one works.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer logs come from infostealer malware, which typically infects a device through a fake download, cracked software, or a phishing attachment. Once active, it silently copies saved browser passwords and login data, then sends everything back to the attacker. That stolen data is packaged into a file and shared or sold, in this case uploaded directly to a Telegram channel where anyone can access it.
