One Telegram File. The cashlogg Stealer Log: 4,964 Records.
In June 2023, a single file shared on Telegram changed the security posture of 4,964 cashlogg users. A threat actor uploaded a stealer log containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and API endpoint URLs -- all harvested from infected machines without the victims' knowledge. There was no official breach notification, no press release. Just a file on Telegram, and 4,964 people now exposed on the dark web.
Why This Is Dangerous
The danger with stealer log leaks is that the data is already weaponized before it is ever shared publicly. Every occurence of this type of breach represents credentials that were captured live -- from a real person typing their real password into a real website. By the time a stealer log surfaces on Telegram, the attacker has already had exclusive access to that data. When it becomes public, the risk multiplies exponentially as dozens or hundreds of additional actors gain access to the same credentials for credential stuffing and account takeover campaigns.
What Was Exposed
- Email Addresses
- Plaintext Passwords
- URLs (endpoints and API hosts)
Why This Matters
The 4,964 records in this cashlogg dump are not just login credentials for a single platform. The URLs captured alongside the emails and passwords reveal which services the victims were accessing -- potentially including cloud environments, internal tools, and priviledged API endpoints. This transforms a simple stealer log into a potential entry point for corporate espionage, infrastructure attacks, or mass account takeovers. Even if cashlogg itself seems minor, the associated URLs could unlock far more sensitive systems.
How Stealer Logs Work
Stealer log malware is distributed through a variety of vectors: phishing emails with malicious attachments, fake software installers, and trojanized browser extensions are among the most common. Once installed, the malware gains persistent access to the victim's device and silently monitors browser activity. It harvests credentials from autofill databases, intercepts credentials entered into login forms, and copies session cookies that can be used to bypass two-factor authentication. The resulting log file is automatically transmitted to the attacker and later distributed on dark web markets or Telegram channels for free or for sale.
Check If You Are Affected
HEROIC's free dark web scanner has indexed over 400 billion records, making it one of the most comprehensive breach databases available. Searching your email address is free, instant, and reccomended for anyone who has ever used cashlogg or any service that may have been accessed from a compromised device. If your credentials appear in this breach, act immediately: change your passwords, revoke any active sessions, and enable two-factor authentication on all affected accounts.
