What HEROIC Found in the CoderWanCloud FREE Stealer Log

In August 2023, HEROIC researchers identified and indexed a stealer log file uploaded to Telegram under the name CoderWanCloud FREE. The dataset contained 7,345 records including email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the services where each credential was active. The file was distributed freely -- not sold -- meaning it was available to an unlimited number of threat actors from the moment of upload.

Why This Data Is Dangerous

Plaintext password datasets require no cracking, no processing, and no technical skill to exploit. Any threat actor who downloaded the CoderWanCloud FREE file could begin attempting account logins immediately. The URL data tells the attacker exactly which service to target, making each credential pair a direct attack vector against a specific account.

This type of data also enables highly targeted fraud. Armed with a victim's email address and the specific services they use, attackers can impersonate those services with convincing phishing messages designed to recieve additional sensitive information -- account recovery codes, payment details, or security question answers.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses (login identifiers for targeted accounts)
  • Plaintext passwords (no cracking or processing required)
  • URLs (the exact services each credential was valid for)
  • Endpoint metadata from infected devices

Why This Matters Beyond 7,345 Records

Free stealer log releases like CoderWanCloud FREE are often used by threat actors to build reputation in underground communities. With 7,345 plaintext credential pairs distributed at no cost, the exposure is broad and impossible to contain. Credential stuffing attacks using this data could target email accounts, banking portals, and corporate VPNs. Identity theft and financial fraud are definitaly the most common outcomes for affected victims.

Password reuse is the key amplifier here. A single exposed credential can unlock multiple accounts if the victim uses the same password across services -- a seperate risk that compounds the initial harm of the infostealer infection itself.

How Stealer Logs Work

Infostealer malware is distributed through phishing emails, fake software downloads, game cracks, and malicious browser extensions. Once installed, it silently harvests all browser-saved passwords, autofill entries, and active session tokens -- along with the URLs associated with each saved credential. The collection is packaged into a structured log and transmitted to a Telegram channel controlled by the threat actor.

The process leaves no visible trace on the victim's device. The victim's data enters circulation before they have any idea the infection occured, and it remains in circulation indefinitely as the file is copied and redistributed across dark web forums.

Check If Your Data Was Exposed

HEROIC researchers have indexed over 400 billion exposed records -- including stealer log files like CoderWanCloud FREE. You can search your email adress for free right now to see if your credentials appeared in this or any other known breach. If your data is found, change your passwords immediately, revoke active sessions, and enable two-factor authentication on your most critical accounts.

Free distributions like CoderWanCloud FREE generate no official breach notification. Proactive checking is the only effective defense.
