Coinbase-Labeled Stealer Log: 702 Records Exposed on May 12, 2026

HEROIC analysts found a stealer log dataset labeled "Coinbase" circulating on Telegram, dated May 12, 2026. This is not a breach of Coinbase's own systems, it is a batch of 702 records pulled from infected devices, where malware captured login data for sites the victims had visited, including email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the exact URLs those logins belong to.

Why This Coinbase-Labeled Leak Is Dangerous

Cryptocurrency-related credentials are some of the most valuable data an infostealer can grab, because a working login can lead straight to funds. With each password already stored in plaintext and matched to its login URL, anyone holding this file can attempt to sign in immediately, no cracking or guessing required. That immediacy is what makes stealer logs so much riskier than a typical hashed-password breach.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords, stored in readable form
  • URLs of the login pages tied to each stolen credential, including ones labeled Coinbase

Why This Matters

Because every credential pair is already matched to a live login page, the biggest immediate risk is account takeover, especially for any financial logins among these 702 records. If a victim reused that same password elsewhere, attackers can use credential stuffing to break into email, banking, or shopping accounts too, turning one stolen password into a much wider case of identity theft and financial fraud.

How Stealer Logs Work

Infostealer malware such as RedLine, Raccoon, or Vidar infects a device, often through a cracked download, fake update, or phishing link, then quietly copies everything saved in the browser: usernames, passwords, cookies, and autofill fields. The malware bundles it all into a "log" and sends it back to the attacker. From there, logs like this one get traded and shared for free on Telegram channels, exactly where HEROIC's analysts found it.
