In April 2023, a Telegram user quietly uploaded a stealer log file known as CRYPTON_LOGS 1, exposing 2,184 records containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs. Three years later, this data continues to circulate across dark web forums and credential marketplaces, putting affected users at ongoing risk of account takeover and identety theft.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer logs are among the most actionable data types for cybercriminals. Unlike hashed passwords, the credentials exposed in CRYPTON_LOGS 1 were stored and leaked in plaintext, meaning attackers can use them immedietly without any cracking tools. Combined with the associated URLs, bad actors know exactly which sites to target with these credentials, making credential stuffing attacks highly efficient and targeted.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (site endpoints and API hosts)

Why This Matters

Most people reuse passwords across multiple accounts. When a stealer log surfaces even a single plaintext password tied to your email address, attackers gain a master key to dozens of services. Banking portals, email inboxes, and social media accounts all become vulnerable in an instant. The 2023 leak date does not reduce the risk because credential databases are bought, sold, and reused for years after initial exposuure.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer logs originate from information-stealing malware secretly installed on victim devices, often through phishing emails, malicious downloads, or compromised software installers. Once active, the malware harvests saved browser credentials, session cookies, and autofill data, then packages everything into a structured log file. These files are then sold or freely distributed on Telegram channels and underground forums, where threat actors purchase bulk access to thousands of compromised accounts at once.
