HEROIC's DarkHive system discovered the DAISY CLOUD stealer log breach, exposing 6,332 records on January 12, 2024. The log contained email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs harvested from infected U.S. endpoints by infostealer malware and distributed through the DAISY CLOUD [NEW] Telegram channel.

Why This Is Dangerous

The passwords in this stealer log were captured directly from browser password managers in plaintext, bypassing any need for attackers to crack hashed credentials. This means every credential in the 6,332-record dataset is immediately ready for account takeover. The URL data provides attackers with a map of services the compromised users were logged into, enabling targeted rather than random attacks and greatly increasing success rates against specific high-value accounts.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs and API host references from infected browser sessions

Why This Matters

The DAISY CLOUD operation released stealer logs on a daily basis throughout January 2024, building a cumulative exposure that spans thousands of U.S. victims across multiple batches. Credential stuffing attacks and account takeover attempts using this type of data are fully automated, capable of testing thousands of logins per hour against popular platforms. The risk of identity theft is compounded by password reuse: a single email and password pair captured from one device may unlock banking, healthcare, and workplace accounts simultaneously.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer malware reaches devices through phishing emails, malicious software downloads, or compromised installation packages. After infection, the malware silently extracts browser-stored passwords, active session cookies, and the URLs associated with those sessions. The data is then exfiltrated to the attacker and packaged into a log file that gets distributed on Telegram. Buyers of these logs use automated tools to test the stolen credentials against hundreds of online services, looking for valid logins they can exploit for financial gain or account access.
