HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file named "dark_wizard_PrivateLogs5dec" uploaded to a public Telegram channel on December 15, 2022. The log contains 12,050 records tied to infected devices, largely associated with users in the United States, and exposes email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the accounts those passwords belong to.

Why This Is Dangerous

The path from infection to stolen login is short with this kind of log. Because the passwords are stored in plaintext and matched to the exact URL where they were used, an attacker does not need to crack or guess anything. They simply take the email and password pair and try it, and if it still works, they are in.

What Was Exposed in dark_wizard_PrivateLogs5dec

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the accounts and services those credentials unlock

Why This Matters

A log of 12,050 records gives attackers a ready supply of working logins for credential stuffing, where stolen email and password pairs are tested automatically against banking, email, and social media sites. If any of those passwords are reused elsewhere, the risk extends into account takeover, identity theft, and financial fraud well beyond the original infected device.

How This Stealer Log Led to Stolen Logins

Logs like "dark_wizard_PrivateLogs5dec" start with infostealer malware landing on a device, often through a pirated download, cracked software, or a malicious attachment. Once installed, the malware quietly harvests saved passwords, autofill data, and browser session details, then bundles everything into a log file and sends it to the attacker. From there, the attacker shares or sells the log on Telegram channels like the one where this file surfaced, turning a single infection into thousands of stolen logins.
