DolphinCloud 456 PCS Stealer Log: Credentials Exposed Since July 2023
In July 2023, security analysts discovered a stealer log file that had been uploaded to Telegram, exposing 6,249 records tied to DolphinCloud 456 PCS. The data included email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs, giving anyone who recieved the file an immediate map of active user credentials.
Why This Is Dangerous
When an attacker gets hold of a stealer log, they do not need to do much work. The file hands them real email and password pairs that were scooped directly off infected devices. They can load those pairs into automated tools and start testing them against banking sites, email providers, and shopping accounts within minutes. Because many people reuse passwords, one stolen entry can open doors across dozens of services.
What Was Exposed in the DolphinCloud 456 PCS Breach
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords (stored and transmitted without any hashing or encryption)
- URLs (revealing which sites and services the affected users were logged into)
Why the DolphinCloud 456 PCS Data Puts You at Risk
Plaintext passwords are the most damaging thing that can appear in a breach. There is no cracking step required. Attackers take these credentials and run them through credential stuffing tools that test thousands of logins per second. If your email and password from this leak match anything you use elsewhere, those accounts are vulnerable right now. The included URLs also reveal which platforms you actively used, making it easy for attackers to prioritize their attempts and target high-value accounts like email, cloud storage, and finance apps.
How Stealer Log Attacks Work
A stealer log is created by malware that runs silently on a victims computer. The malware, often called an infostealer, records keystrokes, grabs saved passwords from browsers, and captures session cookies. Once the malware has collected enough data it packages everything into a log file and sends it back to whoever deployed it. These logs are then sold or shared on Telegram channels and dark web forums. The occured infection usually starts with a malicious email attachment, a fake software download, or a compromised browser extension. The victim rarely knows anything is wrong until their accounts start getting taken over.
