Exida Breach Exposed 3,990 Ukrainian Cybersecurity Accounts
In August 2025, HEROIC identified 3,990 records from Exida, a Ukrainian-domain website associated with the global consultancy specializing in functional safety, alarm management, and automation systems cybersecurity. The data appeared on a hacking forum and contained email addresses, phone numbers, MD5 password hashes, full names, and cities.
Why the Exida Breach Is Dangerous
Attackers can crack MD5 hashes using rainbow tables and GPU cracking tools, recovering plaintext passwords within hours. Combined with phone numbers, names, and email addresses, this data enables credential stuffing attacks, SIM swapping attempts, and highly targeted social engineering against cybersecurity and industrial safety professionals.

Why This Exida Data Puts You at Risk
For professionals in functional safety and industrial cybersecurity, a credential breach carries elevated risk -- attackers targeting critical infrastructure will specifically seek out individuals with access to safety-critical systems. The combination of phone numbers and email addresses creates a direct path to account takeover via SIM swap or phishing.
How Database Breaches Work
Attackers exploited a vulnerability in the Exida website's database, extracting stored user records for 3,990 individuals. The breach affected the Ukrainian-domain instance of the platform and exposed both professional contact details and hashed credentials, which were subsequently shared in underground communities.
