HEROIC Found 8,814 Exposed Records from the OTTOHELP Stealer Log (August 2023)

In August 2023, a Telegram user uploaded a stealer log file labeled as a free OTTOHELP package containing 490 infected machine logs. HEROIC analysts identified this dataset and confirmed it contained 8,814 harvested credential records including email addresses, plaintext passwords, and associated URLs. The label "490PCS FREE" indicates this was deliberately distributed at no cost through Telegram channels, maximizing its spread among criminal networks and making it accessible to a wide range of threat actors.

How the FREE OTTOHELP Stealer Log Led to 8,814 Stolen Credentials

The name of this dataset tells the story of how it ended up on Telegram. OTTOHELP-branded stealer logs were distributed as free samples through underground Telegram channels, a common tactic used by stealer malware operators to build reputation and attract buyers. A threat actor compiled 490 infected machine logs from compromised endpoints, packaged them under the OTTOHELP label, and released them publicly at no cost. Each of the 490 infected machines contributed multiple credentials to the final dataset, resulting in 8,814 total records containing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the specific URLs where each credential was stolen.

By offering these logs for free, the distributor ensured maximum circulation — meaning this dataset was almost certainly downloaded and used by many different threat actors before being indexed by security researchers. Credential stuffing attacks using this data would have started within hours of the upload.

What Was Exposed in the OTTOHELP Free Upload

  • Email addresses (account identifiers paired directly with stolen passwords)
  • Plaintext passwords (no hashing, decryption, or cracking required)
  • URLs (showing exactly which services each credential belongs to)

All 8,814 records in this dataset contain this complete data combination. The free distribution model means this data recieve wider exposure than typical paid stealer logs.

Why Free Stealer Logs Are Especially Dangerous

Paid stealer logs are shared among a limited group of buyers. Free stealer logs like this OTTOHELP release are fundamentally different: they are downloaded by everyone who sees the Telegram post, shared across multiple channels, and repurposed in countless downstream attacks. A seperate analysis of free stealer log distribution patterns shows they are often incorporated into larger credential databases within days of release, dramatically increasing the number of attackers who can use them.

If your credentials are in this dataset, they were exposed to a much larger pool of potential attackers than a typical breach. Credential stuffing, account takeover, identity theft, and financial fraud are all downstream risks. Your data can continue to be exploited long after the original breach occured as the dataset gets absorbed into larger collections.

How OTTOHELP-Style Stealer Logs Are Built and Distributed

OTTOHELP-branded logs are assembled from output produced by stealer malware deployed across hundreds of infected devices. The malware silently extracts credentials from browsers, email clients, and applications on each infected machine, then transmits the collected data as a log file. Operators aggregate these individual machine logs into packages and distribute them through Telegram with names that indicate the number of infected machines included — in this case, 490. Free releases serve as marketing, demonstrating the quality of the operator's stealer output to potential buyers of larger, paid packages. The result is a definately calculated distribution strategy that maximizes the real-world impact of each stolen credential set.
