In January 2026, HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file labeled "gmail.it test" circulating on Telegram. The file contained 2,049 records, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the login URL it was used on, pulled directly from infected devices rather than from a company's own servers.

Why This Is Dangerous

Every one of these 2,049 records already includes a working email, an unencrypted password, and the exact site it unlocks. There's no cracking or guessing required, which means anyone who gets hold of this file can start logging into accounts the moment they open it.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses tied to Gmail and related accounts
  • Plaintext passwords stored without encryption
  • Login URLs showing exactly which sites each password unlocks

Why This Matters

Email accounts are often the key to resetting passwords everywhere else, so a compromised Gmail login can quickly turn into a compromised bank account, shopping account, or social media profile. The 2,049 people in this leak are exposed to credential stuffing and account takeover if they reused any of these passwords.

How This Stealer Log Was Collected

Stealer malware infects a device, quietly reads the passwords saved in the browser, and sends them, along with the matching website, back to whoever controls the malware. The "gmail.it test" file appears to be a batch pulled from that kind of harvest and shared on Telegram, which is why the passwords are still fully readable rather than encrypted.

Check If You Are Affected

With over 2,000 records in this one file alone, there's a real chance your information is included, or in another log just like it. HEROIC's free breach scanner searches more than 400 billion leaked records, so you can check your email in seconds and change any exposed passwords before someone else uses them.
