Source Type Stealer log
Origin Telegram
Password Type plaintext

In July 2023, HEROIC researchers uncovered a stealer log file uploaded to a public Telegram channel by an anonymous user. The file, labeled under the source "GODELESS CLOUD," contained 10,228 records. Every record included an email address, a plaintext password, and a URL showing which service or endpoint was targeted. With the credentials completely unencrypted, anyone who downloaded the file could begin using the stolen logins immediately against real accounts.

Why This Leak Is Seriouse

Plaintext passwords in a public file remove every barrier between an attacker and your accounts. There is no hashing to crack, no brute force required, and no sophisticated tools needed. Cybercriminals who obtain logs like this one can run the credentials through automated software that tests them against email providers, bank websites, shopping platforms, and social media accounts within minutes. The URLs in the log also reveal which services were actively used by victims, making targeted attacks far more efficent.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (web services and API endpoints)

Why This Matters to You

With 10,228 stolen login credentials in circulation, the potential for account takeover, credential stuffing, and identity fraud is high. If your email address appeared in this log, the password associated with it is already in the hands of criminals. Any account where you use that same password is at risk. These files circulate for a long time after they are first posted, meaning the threat does not go away once the initial news cycle ends. Acting quickly to change exposed passwords and monitor your accounts is critical.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

Stealer malware gets onto a device through malicious downloads, fake software updates, or phishing links. Once installed, it silently records every login a user completes in their browser or apps, capturing the email, password, and website address for each one. After collecting enough data, the malware sends the log to the attacker. The attacker then posts or sells the log file on platforms like Telegram, where other criminals can freely download and exploit the stolen credentials against live accounts.
