Identity Theft Is Easier Because of the GODELESS CLOUD Breach
The GODELESS CLOUD stealer log, uploaded to Telegram by an anonymous user in May 2023, exposed 8,586 records harvested from infected devices. Each record contained an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of the specific website where that credential was in use. For the people whose data ended up in this file, the breach did not require a company to be hacked or a database to be stolen. It required only that malware silently installed itself on their device and copied everything out of their browser before they noticed anything was wrong. How Stealer Log Malware Works
The GODELESS CLOUD dataset was not the result of a corporate server breach. It was built by infostealer malware running silently on individual victims' devices. Infostealers are lightweight malicious programs that query the browser's local password database, extract saved logins and session cookies, and package everything into a structured log. That log is then transmited automatically to the attacker's server. Common infection routes include phishing links, fake software installers, malicious browser extensions, and pirated game or application files.
