HEROIC researchers found the GODELESS CLOUD stealer log on July 21, 2023, after a Telegram user uploaded it to a public channel. The file contained 9,173 records with email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs where those credentials were used. Stealer logs like this one are collected by malware running silently on infected computers, capturing everything a user types or saves in their browser.

Why This Leak Is Dangerous

When attackers get ahold of plaintext passwords, they do not have to crack or guess anything. They already have the exact login credentials people used on real websites. Combined with the matching email addresses and URLs, a criminal knows exactly which site to try each password on. That makes this kind of leak far more actionable than a typical database dump.

What Was Exposed in the GODELESS CLOUD Leak

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords (unencrypted, ready to use)
  • URLs tied to each set of credentials

Why This Matters to Real People

Most people reuse passwords across multiple accounts. Once a criminal has a working email and password pair, they will test it on banking sites, shopping platforms, and email providers. This is called credintial stuffing, and it succeeds suprisingly often. A single exposed stealer log can lead to account takeovers, fraudulent purcheses, and identity theft affecting dozens of services at once.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer log malware typically arrives through a phishing email, a fake software download, or a malicious ad. Once installed on a device, it runs quietly in the background and harvests passwords saved in browsers, credentials typed into login forms, and the URLs of websites visited. The malware then bundles all of this data into a log file and sends it back to the attacker. Those logs are then sold or shared publicly on platforms like Telegram, putting the stolen data in the hands of anyone who wants it.
