HEROIC analysts tracked a stealer log file shared publicly on Telegram in August 2023. The file, distributed under the label "GODELESS CLOUD," contained 6,248 compromised records gathered from infected devices. Each record included an email address, a plaintext password, and a URL pointing to a cloud endpoint or API host. The file was posted freely, giving any Telegram user immediate access to thousands of ready-to-use credentials before the breach was formally documented.

Why This Is Dangerous

Six thousand plaintext passwords tied directly to cloud and API login URLs represent a serious attack surface. An adversary does not need any specialised tools to exploit this data. They simply open the log file, pick a record, and log in. Cloud infrastructure credentials can hand over access to servers, databases, stored files, and customer data in a single step. This kind of exposure puts both individuals and organisations at immediate risk.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (including cloud endpoints and API hosts)

Why This Matters

Credential stuffing is one of the most commmon attack methods in use today, and stealer log data is what fuels it. Criminals take email and password pairs from logs like this one and test them against streaming services, banking portals, email providers, and social networks. When passwords are reused across multiple sites, one stolen credential can unlock many accounts, opening the door to identity theft and financial fraud that can take years to resolve.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log is the output of infostealer malware that runs silently on a compromised device. The malware monitors browser activity, scrapes saved login data, intercepts form inputs, and copies stored cookies. All of this information gets compiled into a structured log file and exfiltrated to the attacker. These logs are then packaged and shared on Telegram channels or sold in bulk on dark web marketplaces, where buyers use them for credential stuffing and targeted intrusions.
