HEROIC analysts found a stealer log collection posted to Telegram in July 2023 under the label HellCloud 204. A threat actor distributed this package of compromised credentials, exposing 3,618 records pulled directly from infected devices. The data included email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the URLs of the specific websites each credential pair was used on, making the information immediately usable for unauthorized access.

Why This Is Dangerous

The combination of email addresses, plaintext passwords, and associated website URLs makes HellCloud 204 an unusually direct threat. Unlike breaches where passwords must be cracked first, stealer log data requires no additional processing. An attacker can take the records from this dataset and begin attempting logins on the listed sites within seconds. The plaintext nature of the passwords means there is no technical barrier standing between this data and unauthorized account access.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (the exact websites tied to each stolen credential pair)

Why This Matters

Stealer log data fuels some of the most damaging types of cybercrime, including credential stuffing and account takeover. When a criminal has an email, a plaintext password, and knows which website it was used on, they can attempt to access that account directly. They can also test the same combination across dozens of other websites, knowing that password reuse is common. The downstream effects include identity theft, financial fraud, and the compromise of workplace systems if any of the stolen credentials belonged to professional accounts.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer logs are produced by information stealer malware, a type of software designed to run silently on a compromised device and extract saved credentials. The malware typically enters a device through phishing messages, fake utility software, or malicious downloads from unofficial sources. Once running, it accesses browser password stores, session cookies, and autofill data. The extracted data is bundled into structured log files and transmitted to the attacker, who then shares or sells the logs through Telegram channels and dark web marketplaces. The victim usualy has no indication that their device has been compromised until they notice unauthorized activity.

Check If You Are Affected

HEROIC offers a free breach scanner that checks your email and password against more than 400 billion exposed records from breaches around the world, including stealer log collections like HellCloud 204.
