HEROIC Researchers Identify cvv190_cloud Stealer Log

HEROIC's analyst team traced a stealer log labeled cvv190_cloud to a Telegram channel, where it was uploaded and dated to 26 April 2024. Researchers found the file contains 4,533 records pulled directly from infected devices, pairing email addresses and plaintext passwords with the URLs of the accounts those credentials open. Despite its name, the data researchers reviewed consists of login credentials rather than payment card details.

Why This Stealer Log Is Dangerous

According to HEROIC's analysis, what makes cvv190_cloud dangerous is how directly usable the data is. Because each password is paired with the exact site it was used on, an attacker doesn't need to guess or crack anything, they can go straight to the login page and try it. Researchers note that with 4,533 records in this batch, even a modest success rate hands an attacker a working set of real accounts.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses tied to individual accounts
  • Plaintext passwords for those accounts
  • URLs identifying exactly which sites the credentials belong to

Why This Matters

HEROIC researchers point to account takeover as the most immediate risk, since attackers have everything needed to log in directly with no extra effort. Credential stuffing is the concern that extends beyond the original accounts: analysts note that because people often reuse passwords across sites, a login exposed in cvv190_cloud could unlock a victim's email, banking, or shopping account elsewhere too.

How Stealer Logs Work

Researchers explain that stealer logs come from malware that quietly infects a device, often disguised as pirated software, a fake update, or a malicious attachment, and then harvests saved browser passwords along with the exact websites they belong to. The stolen data is packaged into a single file, which is then distributed, in this case uploaded to a Telegram channel where analysts discovered it during routine monitoring.
