In April 2023, a Telegram user uploaded a stealer log called HOLY CLOUD PRIVATE containing exactly 8,753 records harvested from infected devices. Not approximately 8,000. Not nearly 9,000. Exactly 8,753 people had their email addresses, plaintext passwords, and cloud service URLs extracted from their devices without their knowledge and posted to a Telegram channel for anyone to download. That precision is not incidental. It reflects the systematic, structured way that stealer malware collects and packages data, turning human credentials into a tidy spreadsheet for criminals.

Why This Is Dangerous

Cloud credentials are a different class of target than ordinary website passwords. When attackers recieve access to email and password pairs tied to cloud platforms, they are not compromising a single account. They are potentially gaining access to hosted databases, file storage systems, API endpoints, email servers, and development environments. The URLs included in this dataset confirm the stolen credentials were linked to cloud infrastructure, which means the risk extends beyond personal identity theft into organizational systems. A single compromised cloud account can expose everything stored on it.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords (captured directly from infected devices, no decryption needed)
  • URLs (cloud endpoints and API host references revealing which services were targeted)

Why This Matters

Plaintext cloud passwords represent an immediate and complete security failure. There is no cracking step, no time delay, and no technical hurdle between a downloaded log file and unauthorized access to a victim's accounts. For users who reuse passwords across seperate services, a single entry in this 8,753-record dataset can open the door to email, banking, social media, and cloud storage all at once. Credential stuffing tools can test stolen pairs across dozens of platforms in minutes. The math is simple: the attacker who downloads this file has a ready-made attack list, and the victim has no idea the timer has started.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer malware infects devices through phishing emails, cracked software, fake browser extensions, and malicious downloads. Once installed, it runs silently, extracting saved browser passwords, application login tokens, environment files, and API keys. The data is compressed into a structured log file and exfiltrated to the attacker. Groups operating on Telegram then upload these logs publicly or sell them to other criminals. What makes HOLY CLOUD PRIVATE particularly notable is its focus on cloud service credentials, suggesting the malware specifically targeted users working with cloud infastructure. By the time the log was uploaded in April 2023, every infection had already occured. Victims had no warning.
