On July 8, 2026, a stealer log made up of Hotmail credentials was uploaded by a Telegram user, exposing 1,426 records. The file pairs email addresses with plaintext passwords and the URLs of the accounts they unlock, giving anyone who finds it a ready list of working Hotmail logins.

This Is Not a Microsoft Data Breach

It's worth being clear about what this actually is. Hotmail and Microsoft were not hacked. This log was built from malware infected computers belonging to individual Hotmail users, one infected device at a time, then bundled together and shared on Telegram. The credentials are just as real and just as dangerous, but the source is stealer malware, not a breach of Microsoft's servers.

What Was Exposed in This Hotmail Stealer Log

  • Hotmail email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of the accounts and services those passwords belong to

Why Your Hotmail Login Matters More Than You Think

Your email account is the master key to nearly everything else you own online. If your Hotmail password is sitting in this stealer log, an attacker can use it to log straight into your inbox, then use "forgot password" links to take over your banking, shopping, and social media accounts one by one. Because the passwords here are stored in plaintext and already matched to Hotmail, they are ready for immediate credential stuffing, account takeover, identity theft, and financial fraud, with none of the extra work attackers usually need to do.

How This Hotmail Credential Leak Happened

Stealer logs come from infostealer malware that infects a device through a cracked program, fake download, or phishing email. Once installed, it quietly reads the passwords saved in your browser or mail client, including the ones tied to Hotmail, and sends them back to whoever controls the malware. Those individual infections are then combined into a single log, like this 1,426-record file, and passed around or sold on Telegram.
