In July 2025, a Telegram user quietly posted a stealer log file named hotmail_20250708_140855, and inside it HEROIC analysts found 2,327 individual records lifted straight from an infected computer. Emails, passwords, and browsing URLs, all sitting in one file for anyone on that channel to grab.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer logs are wich some people call the most dangerous kind of leak, because the data inside is usually fresh and still active. Unlike an old database dump from a company breach years ago, a stealer log is often pulled directly off a real person's device days or weeks before it gets posted. That means the passwords in this hotmail-tagged file may still work right now, and the person who lost them probably has no idea it even occured.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs tied to the accounts
  • 2,327 total records exposed in this single file

Why This Matters

Most people recieve dozens of accounts tied to one email address, and if that email and password combo shows up here, attackers will definately try it everywhere else too, from banking apps to work logins. This kind of credential stuffing is quick, cheap, and works more often than most people would like to admit.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log starts with malware, often hidden inside a cracked game, a fake software installer, or a shady email attachment. Once it lands on a victim's machine, it quietly scrapes saved passwords, cookies, and autofill data straight out of the browser, then packages it all into a text file like the one behind this leak. That file gets uploaded to Telegram channels or dark web marketplaces, sometimes for free, sometimes sold to the highest bidder.
