HEROIC analysts uncovered a stealer log file titled Hotmail test by ryder699, uploaded to Telegram in April 2024. The dump contains 1,114 records harvested from infected devices, each pairing an email address and a plaintext password with the URL of the login page it unlocks.

Why This Is Dangerous

This is not stolen data from a hacked company database. It's the direct output of malware that ran on victims' own computers and copied their saved logins as they typed them. Because each password is stored in plaintext and linked to the exact site it belongs to, attackers can immediately try these credentials on Hotmail and Outlook accounts, and on any other service the victims logged into from the same infected device.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs identifying which site each credential logs into

Why This Matters

Email accounts are often the key to everything else, since they're used to reset passwords on banking, shopping, and social media accounts. A compromised Hotmail or Outlook login can let an attacker read private messages, reset other passwords, or impersonate the victim to contacts. Anyone who reused this password on other sites is at additional risk of credential stuffing and account takeover across those accounts too.

How a Stealer Log Breach Like This Works

Stealer logs come from information-stealing malware, usually spread through pirated software, fake cracks, or malicious email attachments. Once it infects a device, the malware quietly collects saved passwords, autofill data, and browser session information, then transmits it to whoever is running the malware. These files are frequently traded and republished on Telegram, which is how a batch collected in 2024 can keep resurfacing and putting victims at risk.

Check If You Are Affected

If you use Hotmail, Outlook, or reuse the same password across multiple accounts, it's worth checking whether your information appears in this leak. HEROIC's free breach scanner searches a database of more than 400 billion leaked records, including stealer logs like this one, so you can find out fast and secure your accounts before someone else logs in first.
