In June 2025, a user on Telegram quietly uploaded a stealer log file that would go on to expose 2,593 records connected to Hotmail accounts. Unlike a traditional corporate hack, this dump came straight from malware sitting on victims' own computers, silently recording everything they typed and every site they visited. The result is a raw, unfiltered snapshot of real people's online lives, complete with the passwords they use to log in.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer logs are especially nasty because they don't just hand over one password, they hand over context. Attackers get the email address, the exact URL where it was used, and the plaintext password all tied together. That means a criminal doesn't have to guess which site a password belongs to, its right there in the log, ready to be reused imediately on banking, shopping, or social media accounts.

What Was Exposed

Based on the confirmed data from this incident, the following was found inside the log:

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs tied to each login
  • 2,593 total records affected

Why This Matters

Even a seemingly small leak like this one carries real risk. Alot of people recycle the same password across multiple accounts, so once one login is exposed, attackers will definately try it everywhere else. Credential stuffing bots can test these 2,593 combinations against email providers, retail sites, and financial platforms within minutes of the log surfacing on Telegram.

How Stealer Logs Work

A stealer log is generated by info-stealing malware that infects a device, often through a cracked software download, a malicious email attachment, or a fake browser update. Once installed, it harvests saved browser passwords, autofill data, and session cookies, then quietly sends everything back to the attacker. These logs are then packaged up and sold or shared, exactly as occured here when a Telegram user posted this batch for others to grab.
