It started with malware, not hackers breaking into a server. On 16 February 2024, a Telegram user uploaded a batch called CRYPTON_LOGS 2.0 373PCS, a stealer log file containing 8,062 records quietly pulled from infected computers. Each record links an email address to a plaintext password and the exact URL where that password works.

Why This Is Dangerous

This kind of leak skips the usual steps criminals need to take. There is no password hash to crack and no company database to breach. The credentials were captured in the clear, straight from the victim's browser, so anyone who downloads this file can start testing logins immediately.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • The specific login URLs tied to each account

Why This Matters

Because the data is bundled by website, attackers can run credential stuffing at scale, feeding thousands of email and password pairs into automated tools that check for reuse across banking, shopping, and email platforms. A single reused password can snowball into full account takeover, identity theft, or direct financial fraud.

How This Stealer Log Happened

Somewhere along the line, a victim's device got infected with information-stealing malware, often hidden inside a cracked game, fake software crack, or a malicious email attachment. Once running, the malware quietly scanned saved browser passwords and autofill data, packaged everything into a log, and sent it back to the attacker. That log was then organized, labeled CRYPTON_LOGS 2.0, and shared on Telegram for other criminals to use.
