In September 2025, HEROIC uncovered a stealer log called Private Cloud being distributed on Telegram. The collection contains 26,358 records stolen directly from infected computers by infostealer malware. Each record includes an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of the website or service where the credentials were entered, painting a detailed picture of each victim's online activity.

Plaintext Passwords Offer Zero Protection

The passwords in the Private Cloud dataset are completely unencrypted. Unlike breaches where passwords are hashed and require significant effort to crack, these credentials are immediately usable. Any attacker who downloads this file can log into affected accounts within seconds, assuming the passwords have not been changed since they were stolen.

What Was Exposed

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords
  • URLs of websites and services visited

Why One Stolen Password Puts Multiple Accounts at Risk

Credential stuffing is an automated attack where stolen username and password pairs are tested against many different websites simultaneously. Because a large percentage of users rely on the same password across services, a single compromised credential from this leak can grant access to email accounts, cloud storage, financial services, and more. Attackers use botnets to test thousands of combinations per minute.

The Infostealer Pipeline: From Infection to Leak

The journey from a clean computer to a stealer log entry follows a predictable path. A user unknowingly installs malware, often bundled with cracked software or delivered through a phishing link. The infostealer then silently extracts saved browser passwords, cookies, cryptocurrency wallets, and other sensitive data. This stolen information is compiled into structured logs and sold or shared freely on Telegram channels. The Private Cloud dataset is one such collection that ended up in public circulation.

Check If Your Credentials Were Exposed

With over 400 billion records in its database, HEROIC provides one of the most thorough breach detection services available. Use the HEROIC breach scanner to check whether your email or password was included in the Private Cloud leak or any other known data breach. Discovering exposed credentials quickly allows you to change passwords and enable additional security measures before attackers strike.
