In February 2023, HEROIC analysts identified a stealer log file titled "134k Private basee," uploaded to a Telegram channel by an unidentified user. The file contained 134,052 records, each pairing an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the login page the credentials were used on.

How the 134k Private Basee Log Ended Up Public

Despite being marketed as "private," a label sellers use to suggest exclusive or limited access, this file was uploaded to a Telegram channel where any user could download it. Once a stealer log changes hands even once, there is no way to guarantee it stays limited to a single buyer, and files marked private are routinely leaked, resold, or shared further.

What Was Exposed in the 134k Private Basee Log

  • Email addresses
  • Plaintext passwords paired with each account
  • URLs identifying the login pages tied to the credentials

Why This Matters

With 134,052 working credential pairs now circulating, attackers have plenty of material for large-scale credential stuffing campaigns against banking, email, and shopping platforms. Anyone whose password was reused on another account faces a real risk of takeover, which can lead to financial fraud or identity theft.

How Stealer Logs Work

Stealer logs like this one come from malware installed on many individual computers, not a breach of one company's servers. Info-stealing malware, frequently spread through cracked software or malicious downloads, quietly copies saved browser credentials and reports back to the attacker. Sellers then compile the results into large batch files, sometimes labeling them "private" to charge a premium, before the files inevitably spread further through Telegram channels and dark web marketplaces, as happened here.
