If You Use Hotmail, This 797-Account Telegram Leak Should Worry You
HEROIC analysts identified a combolist file labeled 855 LINES HOTMAIL uploaded to a Telegram channel in July 2025. The uploader's own label claims 855 lines, but the actual file HEROIC indexed contains 797 records pairing Hotmail email addresses with plaintext passwords and the URLs those accounts belong to. We report the verified count rather than the uploader's claim. Why This Is Dangerous: If you use Hotmail or Outlook, your inbox is often the account that everything else depends on. Anyone who gains access can trigger password resets on your banking, shopping, and social media accounts. Because these passwords are stored in plaintext, an attacker can log in immediately with no cracking required. What Was Exposed: - Hotmail email addresses - Plaintext passwords - URLs tied to the accounts Why This Matters: A working Hotmail login gives an attacker a direct line into your digital life. They can read private messages, intercept password reset emails from other services, and use the account to take over anything else tied to that inbox. If you reused this password on other sites, those accounts are at risk too. Email account compromise is one of the fastest paths to full identity theft. How a Combolist Like This Works: A combolist pairs usernames or emails with passwords, usually pulled from smaller breaches, phishing pages, or stealer logs and organized around a specific email provider, in this case Hotmail. These lists are uploaded to Telegram channels where attackers trade or sell them, then test each pair against the real Hotmail login page to confirm which credentials still work. Check If You Are Affected: Run a free scan against HEROIC's database of more than 400 billion breached records to see if your email address appears in this leak or any other. If it does, change your password immediately, turn on two-factor authentication, and update the password anywhere else you may have reused it.
