HEROIC analysts found a stealer log file shared on a public Telegram channel on May 25, 2023, posted by a user operating under the handle LOGS_CENTEER. The file, labeled 5.25 - LOGS_CENTEER, contained 38,864 records captured from infected user devices. Each record in the dataset paired an email address with a plaintext password and the URL of the service where that password was in use, making this one of the more completly formed credential dumps of its type.

Why This Is Dangerous

Plaintext passwords in a file this large give attackers an enormous amount of leverage. There is nothing to decode or guess. Each of the 38,864 records is immediately usable. The service URLs narrow down exactly which platforms to target, so criminals do not waste time testing credentials on irrelevant sites. This makes large stealer logs like this one far more dangerous than simple lists of email addresses alone.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • Service URLs

Why This Matters

With nearly 39,000 credential pairs in a single file, the 5.25 - LOGS_CENTEER dump provides significant fuel for credential stuffing operations. Attackers run these email and password combinations through automated scripts that test them against banking portals, email platforms, and online marketplaces in bulk. For anyone who reuses the same password across multiple accounts, a single hit means every account using that password is at risk. Identity theft, unauthorized purchases, and account hijacking are all direct downstream consequences of a file like this one ending up in criminal hands.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

A stealer log is the output of infostealer malware running on an infected device. That malware is usually installed without the user's knowlege through a disguised download, a pirated file, or a phishing link. Once installed, it silently records passwords as they are entered or retrieved from the browser's saved credentials storage. It notes which website each password belongs to, then transmits the entire collection to the attacker. The attacker consolidates these logs from many infected machines into bundled files and distributes them through Telegram channels like the one used to share the 5.25 - LOGS_CENTEER file.
