The ‘Logs’ Stealer Dump Gives Attackers 4,288 Working Logins
HEROIC analysts found a stealer log simply named logs uploaded to a Telegram channel on May 9, 2024. The generic name doesn't make the file any less real: it contains 4,288 records taken directly from infected devices, including endpoints, email addresses, API hosts, and passwords. Why This Is Dangerous: With this file, an attacker doesn't need to guess passwords or run a cracking tool. They can simply open the log, pick an email address, and log straight into whatever site the browser had saved that password for. The work of stealing the credential is already done. All that's left is using it. What Was Exposed: - Email addresses - Plaintext passwords - Endpoints and API hosts tied to each login Why This Matters: Because stealer log credentials were captured directly from an active browser session, they tend to be more current than passwords pulled from an old, previously known breach. An attacker with this file can attempt account takeover on email, banking, or shopping accounts within minutes, and if a password shows up here and is reused anywhere else, the damage can spread quickly. How a Stealer Log Like This Works: Infostealer malware infects a device, often through a malicious download disguised as legitimate software, then quietly harvests saved browser passwords, autofill entries, and session data before sending it all back to the attacker. That harvested data gets compiled into a log file like this one and sold or traded on Telegram. Check If You Are Affected: If you've ever downloaded software from an unfamiliar source, it's worth checking your exposure.
