The 2023-09-19_logsinspector stealer log, distributed by .boxed.pw, exposed 5,901 records on September 23, 2023. This breach included Email Addresses, Plaintext Passwords, and URLs harvested from infected devices, making it one of the more dangerous credential leaks from that period.

Why This Is Dangerous

Plaintext passwords are the worst case scenario in any breach. Unlike hashed passwords, plaintext credentials require zero cracking -- attackers can use them immediatly to access accounts. Combined with email addresses and URLs showing exactly which sites were visited, this stealer log gives criminals a ready-made toolkit for account takeover attacks.

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Password
  • URLs

Why This Matters

Stealer logs like this one are regulary traded on dark web forums and Telegram channels. Your credentials may have been bought and sold multiple times without your knowledge. Criminals use these logs for credential stuffing -- trying the same email and password combination across hundreds of websites to find accounts that haven't changed thier passwords. Even if you don't recognise the source, your data may still be in this breach.

How Stealer Log Works

A stealer log is created when malware -- often delivered through phishing emails, fake software downloads, or malicious browser extensions -- infects a device and silently harvests saved passwords, browser history, and login credentials. The data is then packaged into logs and sold or freely distributed on criminal marketplaces. The logsinspector dataset is beleived to have been compiled from multiple infected machines before being publically released in September 2023.
