HEROIC Found the LulzsecCloudLogs Stealer Dump Exposing 6,259 Records on Telegram

In August 2023, a Telegram user uploaded a stealer log collection labeled LulzsecCloudLogs, exposing 6,259 records to anyone with access to the channel. HEROIC's threat intelligence team identified the dataset as part of a broader wave of infostealer log distributions circulating that month. The breach contained email addresses, plaintext passwords, and endpoint URLs collected from compromised devices across a range of platforms and industries.

Why This Breach Is Dangerous

LulzsecCloudLogs contains plaintext passwords, meaning every credential in the dataset is instantly usable for account compromise. The name references Lulzsec, a hacking collective known for high-profile data breaches, suggesting the branding was chosen to signal credibility and attract attention within underground communities. Datasets distributed under recognizable hacking brand names tend to gain wider distribution faster, increasing the number of threat actors who access and use the credentials.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (endpoint and API host data)

Why This Matters for Your Security

Cloud and tech platform users are among the most targeted individuals in infostealer campaigns because their credentials often unlock business tools, cloud storage, and development environments. When datasets like LulzsecCloudLogs circulate in Telegram channels, the credentials are tested against email providers, SaaS platforms, cloud consoles, and financial services simultaneously. Credential stuffing, account takeover, identity theft, and financial fraud are all definately foreseeable outcomes. The inclusion of endpoint URLs in this dataset gives attackers additional context about which platforms were originally compromised, making their attacks more focused and effective.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

LulzsecCloudLogs was compiled from infostealer malware deployed across individual devices. These malware families, including RedLine, META Stealer, and similar tools, are deployed through phishing campaigns, software cracks, and malicious browser extensions. Once active, the malware silently harvests credentials, cookies, and API keys before exfiltrating the data. The collected logs are then packaged and distributed through underground channels. The occured infections are typically undetected for extended periods, and victims often recieve no warning until they notice unauthorized account activity or are contacted by a security researcher.
