6,491 Stolen Credentials From LulzsecCloudLogs Just Hit Telegram
HEROIC analysts found a stealer log file uploaded to a public Telegram channel on January 2, 2024 containing 6,491 exposed records. The dataset, shared under the label LulzsecCloudLogs, included email adresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs harvested from compromised endpoints by infostealer malware. The upload is attribuited to a Telegram user and represents a verified credential dump drawn from infected devices.
Why This Is Dangerous
Every one of the 6,491 records in this file is a fully loaded weapon. An attacker gets an email address, a matching plaintext password, and the exact URL where that password was typed. There is no guessing, no cracking, no delay. Within minutes of downloading this file, a criminal can be testing those credentials against banking sites, email providers, and cloud storage accounts. Because stealer logs capture data in real time from the infected device, the passwords are often current and unique to each service.
What Was Exposed
- Email addresses
- Plaintext passwords
- URLs (websites and services where credentials were captured)
Why This Matters
The LulzsecCloudLogs name signals a deliberate branding choice by the uploader, often used to build reputation in criminal communities and attract downloaders. Credential stuffing attacks launched from data like this lead directly to account takeover, identity theft, and finantial fraud. Even at 6,491 records, the contained damage is real. Victims may not know their credentials were captured until their accounts are already drained or sold.
How Stealer Log Breaches Work
Infostealer malware sneaks onto a device through a phising email, a pirated software download, or a malicious browser plugin. Once installed, it runs silently in the background and records passwords as they are typed, pulls saved credentials from the browser, and logs the URLs being visited. The collected data is packaged into a log file and transmitted to the attacker. That file is then sold, traded, or uploaded to Telegram channels where other criminals can download and exploit it. The LulzsecCloudLogs upload is a direct example of this pipeline in action.
