It started with malware on a victim's device and ended with 673,466 stolen credentials posted to a public Telegram channel. The file, known as Wolfenstaion Dump Part 43, surfaced in April 2023 as part of a multi-volume stealer log series. HEROIC analysts verified that each record contains an email address, a plaintext password, and the URL of the login page where the credentials were originally entered.

The "Part 43" designation indicates this is one installment in a larger ongoing operation. The threat actor behind these dumps has been systematically compiling and releasing stolen credentials in batches, suggesting access to a sustained pipeline of infostealer output.

Why Plaintext Passwords Eliminate Every Line of Defense

The credentials in this dump are stored in plaintext, which means the passwords appear in their original, readable form. Attackers do not need specialized hardware, rainbow tables, or brute-force tools to use them. Every single password is ready to copy and paste directly into a login form.

This is a critical distinction from breaches where passwords are hashed. Hashed passwords require time and effort to crack, and strong hashing algorithms can render many passwords unrecoverable. Plaintext storage removes all of those protections, placing every victim's accounts in immediate jeopardy.

What Was Exposed in the Wolfenstaion Dump Part 43

  • Email Addresses — Personal and professional email addresses harvested from browser autofill data and saved login forms on compromised devices.
  • Plaintext Passwords — Passwords captured in real time by malware as victims logged into websites, stored without hashing or encryption of any kind.
  • URLs — The login endpoints for each captured credential, showing attackers exactly which services to target with the stolen data.

Why 673,466 Stolen Logins Multiply into Millions of Vulnerable Accounts

Each record in this dump represents a confirmed login to at least one website. But the real damage extends far beyond those individual sites. Password reuse is endemic among internet users, with industry studies finding that the average person uses the same password across five or more accounts.

That means 673,466 stolen credential pairs could potentially unlock millions of additional accounts. Attackers deploy credential stuffing software to test each pair against major platforms at industrial speed. Email providers, financial institutions, healthcare portals, and workplace applications are all prime targets.

When an attacker gains access to an email account, the damage compounds rapidly. Password reset emails for other services flow into the compromised inbox, giving the attacker a master key to the victim's entire digital life.

How Stealer Logs Trace Back to a Moment of Infection

Every record in the Wolfenstaion Dump traces back to a specific moment when malware was installed on someone's device. Infostealer malware typically arrives through deceptive channels: a fake software update, a pirated application, a malicious email attachment, or a compromised website that triggers a drive-by download.

Once active, the malware operates invisibly. It extracts credentials stored in browser password managers, intercepts login forms in real time, and collects cookies that allow attackers to hijack active sessions. All of this data is bundled into structured log files and exfiltrated to the attacker's infrastructure.

The logs are then organized, deduplicated, and released in volumes like the Wolfenstaion Dump series. Each part represents a fresh batch of victims, and Part 43 suggests this operation has been running long enough to accumulate a substantial archive of stolen data.
