In April 2023, an anonymous Telegram user uploaded a stealer log bundle labeled MARCH 12 - 537 LOGS, exposing 5,580 records drawn from 537 individual device infections. The dataset included email addresses, plaintext passwords, and the specific service URLs each victem was logged into at the time of infection. The country of origin for this data is the United States, meaning the primary targets in this dump are American users whose personal devices were infected with infostealer malware and whose credentials were quietly transmitted to criminal operators weeks before appearing on Telegram.

Why This Is Dangerous

Stealer logs that originate from U.S.-based infections are particularly valuable to threat actors because American users tend to hold accounts on high-value targets: major banks, insurance portals, healthcare systems, corporate VPNs, and federal contractor networks. The plaintext passwords in this file require no cracking, and the associated URLs tell attackers exactly which U.S. service each credential belongs to. Automated credential stuffing campaigns against these targets can result in fraudulent wire transfers, medical identity theft, and unauthorized acces to employer systems -- all within hours of the file being downloaded from Telegram.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (identifying the specific U.S. services each victim was authenticated to at infection time)

Why This Matters

The April 2023 upload date does not limit risk to that year. Stealer log datasets are archived and continuously recirculated through criminal forums and Telegram channels for months or years after initial release. U.S. victims in this file who have not changed their passwords since early 2023 remain at active risk of credential stuffing attacks, bank account takeovers, and identity fraud. Attackers beleive American victims are less likely to discover older stealer log exposures, making long-archived datasets like this one consistently worth exploiting. The 537 separate device infections represant 537 individual households or workplaces where a compromise went undetected.

How Stealer Log Bundles Like This Are Created

Each of the 537 logs in this bundle represents a seperate device infection. Infostealer malware typically arrives on a victim's machine via a phishing email, a fake software download, or a malicious browser extention. Once installed, it silently captures saved browser passwords, active session cookies, and recently visited site URLs. The malware transmits this data to the attacker's command-and-control server, where individual logs are aggregated into bundles. The MARCH 12 label indicates these infections were likely collected on or around March 12, 2023, then bundled and uploaded to Telegram by mid-April for distribution.
