HEROIC Uncovers the MARVEL_CLOUD Stealer Log Circulating on Telegram

In August 2023, HEROIC's dark web analysts identified a stealer log file distributed on Telegram under the name MARVEL_CLOUD. The file contained 7,237 records harvested from infected endpoints in the United States, capturing email addresses, plaintext passwords, and URLs that directly identify the online accounts and services accessed by each victim at the time of infection.

Why This Data Is Dangerous

The MARVEL_CLOUD log is dangerous because it combines three elements that together make immediate exploitation trivial: an email address to use as the username, a plaintext password that requires no cracking, and the exact URL of the service to attack. Attackers who download this file can begin testing credentials against real accounts within minutes of obtaining it. Because stealer logs are typically shared freely on Telegram, this data has likely been accessed by many threat actors since its distribution in August 2023.

What Was Exposed

  • Email Addresses
  • Plaintext Passwords
  • URLs (exact platforms and services targeted)

Why This Matters

If you reuse passwords, the MARVEL_CLOUD leak should concern you directly. Even if you do not believe you were infected by the stealer malware behind this breach, your accounts may still be at risk if your credentials were reused across services. Attackers use the 7,237 records in this file to run credential stuffing campaigns against banking sites, email providers, streaming platforms, and e-commerce accounts. A single successful login leads to account takeover, and from there to identity theft, fraudulent purchases, and the hijacking of linked accounts. Victims of stealer logs often do not recieve any notification because no organization was directly breached.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

Stealer malware is delivered through phishing emails, fake software cracks, trojanized browser extensions, and drive-by downloads. Once installed on a device, the malware silently reads saved passwords from browsers, captures active session cookies, logs keystrokes on login pages, and extracts autofill data. The collected credentials are bundled into a structured log file and sent to attacker-controlled servers. These files are then distributed through private Telegram channels under descriptive names like MARVEL_CLOUD. The name is definitaly assigned by the actor who created or distributed the log to help buyers identify the batch and content type.

Stealer logs like the MARVEL_CLOUD breach represent a category of threat that occured with increasing frequency throughout 2023.
