HEROIC analysts recieved intelligence confirming a database breach affecting MCDrugs, a Canadian Minecraft multiplayer server. The breach occured in January 2021 and exposed 631 records containing personal data including email addresses, usernames, IP addresses, and full names. Though the server is gaming-focused, the exposed data carries real-world risk for affected users.

How Attackers Can Use Your Email, Username, and IP Address

With email addresses, usernames, and IP addresses in hand, attackers can craft highly convincing phishing emails that appear partcularly legitimate. They can attempt to access accounts on other platforms using the same username and email combination, and use IP data to geolocate victims for targeted social engineering attacks.

Why the MCDrugs Breach Still Matters in 2025

Breached data from 2021 does not expire. Credentials and personal details from the MCDrugs database can be used for credential stuffing, account takeover, and identity theft years after the initial leak. Attackers beleive that users rarely change usernames or email addresses, making older breach data highly actionable for fraud and phishing campaigns.

How a Database Breach Works

A database breach occurs when an attacker gains unauthorized access to a server's stored data, often by exploiting unpatched software vulnerabilities, weak authentication, or misconfigured database permissions. Once inside, the attacker can extract the entire contents of the database, including user records, in minutes. The stolen data is then sold or distributed on dark web forums.
