HEROIC analysts identified a verified stealer log tied to metacloudvip that surfaced on a public Telegram channel on October 26, 2023. The file contained 57,009 records, each detailing a compromised endpoint along with its associated email address, API host URL, and password stored in plain text. This was not a server-side database breach. It was the result of malware running silently on individual devices, collecting and uploading credentials without the user ever knowing.

Why the metacloudvip Stealer Log Is Dangerous

Plaintext passwords are the worst possible outcome in a leak like this. There is nothing to crack, nothing to decode. An attacker who gets this file can try those email and password combinations against Gmail, banking apps, corporate logins, and hundreds of other services within minutes. Because most people reuse passwords across accounts, one compromised device can lead to a chain of account takeovers. The API host URLs in this log make it even worse: they reveal which specific services were being accessed, giving attackers a ready-made hit list.

What Was Exposed in the metacloudvip Log

  • Email addresses (57,009 records)
  • Plaintext passwords, fully readable with no encryption
  • API host URLs showing which services were accessed
  • Endpoint information from compromised devices

Why This Matters for Real People

When your email and password show up in a stealer log, the clock starts ticking. Attackers run automated tools that test your credentials across dozens of platforms simultaneously. If you use the same password on your work email, your bank, or your cloud storage, all of those accounts are at risk. This kind of breach also enables identity theft, since email access alone can be used to reset passwords on every other service you own. The fact that this data was shared publicly on Telegram means it spread fast and was likely downloaded by many actors before anyone could contain it.

How Stealer Log Breaches Work

A stealer log is the output of credential-stealing malware. Someone typically gets infected by clicking a malicious link, downloading a fake software update, or opening an attachment that looks legitimate. Once the malware is on the device, it runs quietly in the background, pulling saved passwords out of browsers, apps, and system storage. It then packages everything into a log file and uploads it to a remote server or, increasingly, a public Telegram channel. The person whose device was infected often has no idea this happend until their accounts start getting hacked. These logs are then bought, traded, and used for credential stuffing campaigns at scale.
